Teachers at South Shore have engaged with conversations about grading since last year and, in some cases, for the past 10 years. Our teachers have a great balance of considering new initiatives while focusing on what's best for kids. Rethinking grading is no exception to that approach.
The administrative team at South Shore has ensured that there is time and space to talk about grading in a meaningful way. Part of that includes bi-monthly admin. meetings that are focused only on grading, setting up bi-monthly meetings for teachers to discuss grading, and designating professional development time for staff to engage more deeply and more collaboratively on this work. See below for summaries of ways that staff have engaged with rethinking grading.
