Hello fourth grade families! We are so excited to welcome you to fourth grade. We may be biased, but it is our favorite year!
You will have the opportunity to learn more about your favorite subjects. Are you a fan of Science and Social Studies? Well this year you get to switch classrooms and have those subjects three times a week. A fan of math? In fourth grade, you get to expand your understanding of multiplication, division, and fractions. We hope you have been drilling your math facts! In Religion, we focus on the 10 Commandments, Beatitudes, and the Works of Mercy. You will also complete a Saint Report on a Saint of your choosing. We will continue where you left off in third grade when it comes to reading. Be prepared for weekly spelling and reading test. Fourth grade students also love our novel study "The One and Only Ivan" by Katherine Applegate. This is a lot of change so we ask for your patience as we get over the "learning curve".
This year you will take two field trips. One to the Franklin Institute and one is a surprise. You will complete projects, write and type interesting writing assignments, and play a lot of Trashketball!
We hope you are as excited as we are for the first day. We ask that you come to school every day prepared to learn, treat everyone fairly, and be your best self.
Parents, we are a team here to help your student do their best! Please reach out to us with any concerns or questions you have throughout the year.
God Bless!
Ms. Hassey and Mrs. Fossett
