Spelling Homework

Spelling homework is every night Monday thru Thursday. Spelling homework is completed in the blue notebook and I checked it for accuracy every morning. Students get a grade for each spelling assignment. I take 5 points off for each misspelled word. All homework should have a proper heading. 

Spelling Schedule

Monday (3x Each)- Students will write all 20 words 3x in their notebooks. 

Tuesday (abc order) - Students will write their spelling words alphabetically one time. 

Wednesday (Pick 10)- Students will use ten words in a sentence or write a story using ten words. The sentences must show understanding of the word. 

Thursday (Study)- Students should study for their test on Friday. They can trace words in clay or sand, take a mock test, use flashcards, or get quizzed by family members!

Friday (Test Day)- Students will take their Spelling test first thing on Friday morning. I will dictate the word twice and use it in a sentence. Students will be tested on the Word Skill of the week during their Reading test that week as well. It is important to both know how to spell the word and understand why it is spelled that way.
