Modern World History A Honors covers world events in the period from 1700 through 1913. This college preparatory class will examine how feudalism led to the rise of monarchies and abuses of absolute power. The Enlightenment challenged absolutism and the church 's influence and inspired the American and French Revolutions. Students will examine the debate of Industrialization's cost benefit analysis and how it forever changed the way we worked and grew a new social class. Industrial development will lead nations to seek out and compete for new resources and new markets resulting in an age of imperialism and a World War.
Honors students will exhibit excellent reading comprehension and writing skills. All work is to be completed by assigned deadlines. Students understand that they will be challenged by expectations to develop well-reasoned written and oral arguments and defend them against constructive critiques. Successful completion will assist students in transitioning to college level coursework.
