- Knowing your math facts quickly and immediately will help you become more successful in learning and understanding two-digit by two-digit multiplication, long division, fractions, and decimals.
- Reading every night does not have to be sit on the couch or in a chair and read. This reading can be done outside under a shady tree, while riding in the car to and from extra curricular practices, or right before going to bed. Why do we ask for you to read every night? Reading a little every night helps increase vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Think of reading like weight training or practicing for your favorite extra curricular event. If you don't practice, you don't get better. Practicing a little every night makes you a stronger reader and you will be able to read harder and more difficult books. Also, reading 20 minutes does not have to be a book. You can read a magazine, the newspaper, an on-line article from your computer, tablet, or e-reader, or a comic book. Read something you enjoy and share with me your new discoveries! I can't wait to hear what interests you! :)
There are many more websites we use in class. Those websites are:
ReadWorks
Boom Cards
Quizlet
Nearpod
FlipGrid
These websites will have direct links that I will post to your Google Classroom. This gives you the opportunity to access the exact material we will be utilizing in class.
At some point during the year, you will have questions. When that happens, here are some possible ways to contact me. The first would be to ask your parents to send me a Remind message. Remind is our text messaging system. The texts are directly sent to my phone through an app. This is the best way to contact me, if you need an answer relatively quickly. The second way to contact me would be email. Please send all your questions, comments, and/or concerns to mfedak@sslcs.org. Again, my email is connected to my phone, but I tend to see a text before an email.
The above search engines are great for students. They provide readings at a student friendly level and are wonderful for completing research projects.
The above are educational websites that offer a variety of games and fun ways to practice skills we are learning in the classroom at home.
Documents and videos posted in this section will help you, the student, with some of our different online pieces we will be using this coming school year. Some of these resources you may have used last year and this will be a refresher. Other pieces may be brand new. Utilize this section as a resource and reference area.
