- Knowing your math facts quickly and immediately will help you become more successful in learning and understanding two-digit by two-digit multiplication, long division, fractions, and decimals.
- Reading every night does not have to be sit on the couch or in a chair and read. This reading can be done outside under a shady tree, while riding in the car to and from extra curricular practices, or right before going to bed. Why do we ask for you to read every night? Reading a little every night helps increase vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Think of reading like weight training or practicing for your favorite extra curricular event. If you don't practice, you don't get better. Practicing a little every night makes you a stronger reader and you will be able to read harder and more difficult books. Also, reading 20 minutes does not have to be a book. You can read a magazine, the newspaper, an on-line article from your computer, tablet, or e-reader, or a comic book. Read something you enjoy and share with me your new discoveries! I can't wait to hear what interests you! :)
At some point during the year, you may have questions, comments, or concerns. When that happens, here are some possible ways to contact me. The first would be to send me a Remind message. Remind is our text messaging system. The texts are directly sent to my phone through an app. This is the best way to contact me, if you need an answer relatively quickly. The second way to contact me would be email. Please send all your questions, comments, and/or concerns to mfedak@sheffieldschools.org. Again, my email is connected to my phone, but I tend to see a text before an email.
