Hello and welcome to third grade!  My name is Sarah Fitzgerald and this will be my eighth year teaching 3rd grade at Bear Cave Intermediate.  This year is going to be filled with lots of new experiences and hands-on learning.  I am very excited to continue my teaching career as a Stewartville Tiger! 

I was born and raised not too far from here in Byron, MN.  I attended college at Winona State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.  I shortly after received my Maser's Degree in Differentiated Instruction.  During my college days, I worked as a youth services librarian at the Winona Public Library.  Therefore, I am very passionate about working with kiddos and helping them form their reading foundation.  In my free time, I love to spend time with my family and friends.  I enjoy being outdoors and spending my time hiking and exploring new places.  I also love to travel, meet new people, read, eat yummy foods, and of course cheer on the Vikings!  Finally, I have a two fur baby cats (Rocco and Archie) who run the house and act exactly like children of mine :)

My teaching philosophy is to provide every single student with the necessary tools and opportunities they need in order to flourish and become successful not only in the classroom, but outside of the classroom as well.  I believe that each individual student brings different and unique characteristics into the classroom and that these differences should be embraced.  Finally, I believe that learning is a life-long process and I want my students to become as passionate about learning as I am.  I will achieve this by continuously keeping students engaged through the use of hands-on learning and cooperative learning within all academic areas of the classroom.
