Our Training Band is a Concert Band for beginners that rehearses weekly with performance opportunities each term. It is led by a music classroom teacher and at least 4 tutors.
It is targeted at keen students from the Year 4 Instrumental Program (starting from around term 3) with the goal of developing them to be able to join our Intermediate Concert Band. These students do not necessarily need to be receiving lessons. Of course, Training Band ensemble is also open to students in younger years on a case by case basis, particularly for younger students who are receiving lessons on a concert band instrument.
Students receive small group tuition from experienced tutors and participate in a weekly full-band rehearsal, sitting along side the tutors who are able to mentor them throughout the rehearsal. There are regular performance opportunities for this ensemble througout the year.
The instruments in Training Band (and Concert Band) are: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bassoon, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Euphonium, Bass, Mallet Percussion and Drums.
