The Monte Vista High School Wellness Center is partnering with student Hannah Yang in her project in pursuit of a Gold Award from the Girl Scouts of the USA.
The intention of this project is to gather letters of advice, experience, and support from students so that when students visit the Wellness Center for years to come, they can read the shared wisdom of their fellow students.
If you are interested in participating, please write a letter about an experience you have gone through that you feel could help another student going through the same thing in the future. It can be about how you cope with anxiety, pressure from parents, social conflicts, your experience as a member of a minority group, loss of a loved one, and more. Please be mindful that although your letter will be anonymous in the final product, it cannot be kept anonymous from Ms. White. All submissions must be sent to Ms. White (rwhite2@srvusd.net) with your school email address. After submitting your letter, Ms. White will review it and call you in to go over it, talk about the project a bit, edit your letter together, and sign our informed consent form. Please be mindful of wording and content that is violent or triggering; we want the Wellness Center binders to be accessible to all and certain verbiage will be flagged by the Securly system on our computers and will not be used in the binders. Feel free to reach out to Ms. White in advance if you have questions about what you would like to write about! She is happy to help you share your story in a way that is safe to all involved!
You can earn community service hours for participating, and Ms. White will sign off on it when you discuss and edit your letter with her.
