Frequently Asked Questions

Am I on track for graduation?

Look at your transcript in Infinite Campus Portal under the credit summary box. On the column that reads “Earned”.

= 160 : You are right on track! You must earn 60 credits in your senior year towards the correct subject areas (6 classes each semester) and you will graduate.

> 170 : You are ahead of credits for graduation! District policy allows students to have one period off if you are at least 10 credits ahead.

< 160 : You are behind in credits for graduation. Please see your counselor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - CRITICAL to make sure you are eligible for graduation and able to make up credits.  (adding a B period, participating in a credit recovery program or taking a class through Venture or outside of district).

What if I fail a class in my senior year?

Depending on the number of credits you have earned and the time-frame you have to make up credits, you may still have a chance to graduate. But, you MUST speak with your counselor as soon as you find yourself in danger of failing.

What if I want to drop a class and/or change my schedule?

You must make sure dropping a class or changing your schedule does not impact graduation (i.e. dropping a class in a required subject area or losing credits by dropping). If you have reported your senior courses on your college application, this means your application status (or conditional acceptance – depending on when you would like to drop a course) may be affected by this.  We cannot advise you on this; dropping a course as a senior is more complicated.  It involves the student contacting all of the College Admissions Offices (that the student applied to) and asking, “Will dropping “X” impact my application status/conditional acceptance?”  Each office will be able to answer this question.

I’m taking a class off-campus. How will you know if I passed and earned enough credits to graduate?

If you are taking a class off-campus that you want to count towards graduation, you MUST provide an official transcript or grade report proving that you have passed the course and have earned the necessary credits. This information must be given to our registrar PRIOR to finals week.

How do I access my CHS transcript?

Log into your Infinite Campus portal. Under the Documents section, you will see a link called "Portal Transcript"

There's a lot of information to keep track of. Any suggestions?

Organization is a key part of this process. Here is a College Search Organizer to help organize your research and your to-do list.
