Parent/ Guardian Volunteer Hours
Putting on a play is a very exciting and involved process and requires a great deal of community support for success. There are all kinds of jobs to be done, people to coordinate, and budgets and deadlines to meet. Luckily, our Iron Horse community has always rallied around our Performing Arts programs and kept them flourishing.
To upkeep our proud tradition, parents of students cast in our latest production, “Beauty and The Beast Jr.”, will be requested to dedicate 2-4 volunteer hours per family. Parent Participation jobs are mostly supervising student actors and stage crew backstage, in dressing rooms, or while designing scenery on “Saturday Work Days”. Many times, parents have particular skills to lend to certain aspects of production such as set construction, scenic painting, lights and sound, stage make up, or hairstyling. Most parents have a good time working side by side with students, and I always have a great time getting to know students and their families better.
Putting on a musical is expensive! Just to acquire the production rights can cost between $600-1200 before performers even sing a note! There are also sets to build, props to make, and costumes to gather. While there is no mandatory fee for participation, our play could be curtailed if we don't raise the necessary funds for production.
We are asking for a $125.00 donation per performer. This will help cover the cost of scripts, costumes, props and scenery. Donations in any amount are always appreciated.
