Welcome to our  Foundation Learning Site. 

This learning space will be used to communicate important dates, showcase learning and be a platform for student learning. 

We will update this weekly and we ask that you please check it over the weekend to be prepared for the next week.

Week 5 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

Our recent excursion to Healesville was a fantastic experience with the focus on discovering more about our community. The students loved seeing the animals, listening to and immersing themselves in  activities in relation to our Aboriginal heritage.

Also some of our photos this week include the students playing dominoes which is a great game for practising subitizing (knowing how many in a collection without counting one by one)

Week 4 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

Our very first House Cross Country for the  Prep students.  They were amazing giving this a go and so nice to hear the other students cheer us on. Many of our photos are are of this event, as well as, learning from the week.  We created birds as part of God's Creation, made inferences from the data we are collecting, and are making connections with patterns in number. 

Over coming weeks I will add some 'take home' ideas to link learning from school to home.  Also stay tuned for the Healesville Sanctuary photos. They are coming!

Week 3 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

A busy week culminating with our first excursion to Healesville Sanctuary. The students enjoyed seeing many of the animals, the dinosaur exhibition and listening to our connection to Aboriginal culture.  Much excitement for many of the students enjoying their first bus ride too.  Photos to follow early next week. 

Our learning this week included adding adjectives to our writing, learning to write our names, and practising counting backwards and forwards. Our photos this week are using geoboards to make 2D shapes which is also great for fine motor skills.

Week 2 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

Welcome back to Term Two.  Hope your holidays were amazing!

Term One is very much about making sure our students are settled and Term Two we look to ramp up the learning in the classroom. 

Building stamina with tasks, giving the students challenges whilst always making sure the learning is engaging is the key! 

If we can encourage the students to keep doing their sight words at home, as well as, the daily reading of their books. Your input makes a huge difference to their learning. We understand that there are some nights that this may not occur but building up a routine is essential.

Week 9 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

This week has been action packed with School photos, Harmony Day and tomorrow we have Ride to School Day. 

Our photos this week are from Maths in which we played the Memory Game, celebrated Harmony Day and engaged in Prayer (we used our symbols that we made).  

The Preps this term have been immersed in much learning and engaged in many new experiences.  A well deserved break is due after a busy few weeks.

Week 8 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

A great week involving our school community! It was lovely to see many of you with our Open Classroom last week.  Today we stepped back in time and shared games from the past with our significant person/s. We hope you enjoyed playing Tic-Tac-Toe and Snakes & Ladders.  They continue to be such fabulous games that cover so many concepts - number, taking turns and most importantly, connecting with others.  We will be sending photos home from the day over the next week or two. 

Our photos on the site today are relating to the Easter Story, predominantly Good Friday. 

We can't believe there are only two weeks left of Term One with photos and Ride to School Day happening next week! Get the haircuts booked.

Week 7 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

Our photos this week cover work on RE - Last Supper.  The students made the bread and chalice using play dough. They then made food that they may enjoy at a family celebration.   We are hoping many of you are able to come to our open classroom today at 5.30pm so  the students can share some more of their learning.  We have been busy with counting, writing and a little bit of Italian thrown in too!

Week 6 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

Our photos this week cover work on RE - Palm Sunday and the STEM session the students enjoyed with Mrs. Read. Hoping to share more photos from the Specialist classes over coming weeks.  The students have the opportunity to show their talents in Performing Arts, Visual Arts, PE and STEM.  We are feeling very confident about our Preps performing in our concert later this year as we already seeing some superstars! 

Hoping the students are enjoying their readers and sight words at home. Paste them around the home, use sticks to make the words, use chalk on the pavement to write them - some different ways to learn their words.

Hope you have all had a fantastic week.  We cannot believe that Week 5 is nearly upon us. 

This week we will be sending home readers and sight words for the students to do daily.  We sincerely respect that some nights this may not occur  but where you can a touch of home learning connects to their learning at school.

Week 4 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

I hope you have kept cool this week and have your power on. I was worried I could not get this to you but our power just came on! Yeah!

Thank you for all the questions that we are receiving as for many this is your first child attending primary school.  There are so many new things to learn for the student, families and us.  

This week, we celebrated the Guardian Angel Mass at our local church SPJ. Back at school we are continuing to work on patterns, sounds, writing numbers, class expectations and a touch of Italian! Our photos this week are in our writing session.  Again I apologize if I don't capture everyone in one week (I usually do a quick scan of the room - no time for more :) )  Have a great weekend!

Week 3 Updates & News

Hi Everyone, 

The students are doing so well, learning many new things, routines and making new friends. 

Many of our activities this week involved using voice (oral language) and 'hands on' experiences.  Students learn in so many ways so it is important to provide many different opportunities.  Our photos this week show some of our students making the number two and creating patterns.  Please know we aim to have photos of most of the children every week but some weeks there may only be a few. 

Also I have included our learning intentions for the following week.  We are also still focused on making sure all of our students are settling in.

Welcome - Updates & News 

Hi Everyone, 

What a great first morning! The students settled in really well and enjoyed some play, engaged in prayer, learnt the sound 's' and had play lunch and lunch (some left over for home).  Lovely Marg has taken photos of all the students on their first day for you to look at and enjoy. Most weeks we will post pictures of their learning.  Next week I will post our learning intentions (what we are striving to learn) as we are focused on the students settling in and we have the Preps spending time with their buddies.

A beautiful sunny day greeted us for the School Cross Country. What a wonderful morning in which our students did their very best in their very first House Cross Country.  It was lovely to hear the other classes cheering our students and for the students to try something new at our school.  Many of our photos this week are of the Cross Country event
