Substance Use

Navigating Youth Substance Use in Marin County

Let’s Talk is a resource for parents and caregivers, centered around the idea that with a lot of solid science, and a lot of heart, we can support our youth as they navigate the tough stuff.

Check out the 2023-24 Let's Talk Community Discussion Series. In these community discussions, Let's Talk facilitates a deeper dive into the sections of the Let’s Talk booklet with guest facilitators and topic experts. Parents and caregivers have the opportunity to share their experiences and best practices in a safe, solution-oriented environment.

BACR provides prevention, assessment, intervention, treatment and recovery support services to youth, families, and adults in our community. They provide basic education on the physical and psychological effects of alcohol and drugs, aid to parents on how to identify use/abuse by their children, and how to talk to them if they are using and/or thinking of using.

Assessment services help identify the type of substance use and provide guidance as to what next steps may be. BACR can assist teens & families with many other aspects of substance use/misuse and their services are provided in a number of settings: schools, in-custody, freestanding recovery centers, and county offices.

OD Free Marin's goal is to prevent substance misuse and overdose deaths with strategies such as naloxone training and distribution, partnering with a harm reduction organization, safe drug disposal efforts and to educate the community about opioid use and misuse by facilitating naloxone outreach to schools, CBOs, and county divisions in tandem with community presentations, trainings, and youth substance use education.
