This course is for the serious vocal student who is performance oriented and has already demonstrated an ability to sing at a high level of skill. This course will be a continuation of Chorus with advanced musical expectations. Chamber Singers requires an audition.
Students will:
Study and sing vocal works from a variety of historical periods and musical styles
Develop techniques for good vocal production
Learn fundamentals of music
Learn to play instruments as a way to self accompany
Explore songwriting as a means of expression and learn skills to create original songs
Expand understanding of the broad world of choral and solo singing including pop, Broadway, classical, folk, gospel, contemporary a cappella and beyond.
Your grade in this class will be based on the following:
Participation, work ethic, and class contributions: 50%
Quizzes and tests 25%
Final Exam 25%
Daily work will always be posted in Google Classroom.
Students are expected to dress in one of the following options:
A full length black dress (provided), black socks or tights (optional), and black dress shoes (flats preferred)
A black dress shirt, dress pants or full length dress skirt, black socks or tights (optional), and black dress shoes (flats preferred)
Required one option:
Red tie (required if wearing black shirt)
red ribbon, worn as a sash, if wearing skirt or dress
