ACT at a Glance

• National college admission examination that consists of subject area tests in:

       English, Mathematics,

       Reading, Science

• Optional 30-minute Writing test.

• Results are accepted by virtually all U.S.

       colleges and universities.

• 215 multiple choice questions, takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete; 4 hours with the writing test.     

ACT Registration 

Online:

• Easier and faster

• Know immediately if a test center is available

• Must pay by debit or credit card                                           

Registration Packet:

• Must use if requesting disability accommodations

• May pay by check or money order

• Most coursework corresponding to the test material is completed.        

• Test scores and other information will be available in time to influence the senior year.                   

• Colleges will know the student’s interests and scores in time to make contact during the summer before the senior year.

To be eligible, a student must meet all three of the following requirements:  

• Attending a U.S. high school as a junior or senior.

• Must meet at least one indicator of economic need listed on the ACT fee waiver form (available from your high school counselor).

• May use up to two fee waivers.    

• English- 4 Years

• Mathematics (Alg.1 or above) - 3 Years

• Social Studies - 3 Years

• Science- 3 Years

• Foreign Language (of the same language) - 2 Years

Many colleges may also require additional courses in:

• Mathematics

• Fine arts

• Computer Science
