Since 2001, Myki Williamson has proudly served the students and teachers of Springfield Public Schools. She began her career as an elementary teacher and served as a Title I Literacy Coach before joining the Department of Learning Development in 2014.
Chelsea Torres, teacher at Bissett Elementary, describes Myki this way: “She has always had a way of asking the right questions to help me find the answers I need without spoon-feeding them to me. She is a person that helps to bring out the best in me, and does it effortlessly through her coaching and active listening.”
Myki’s selfless listening and ability to point others toward authentic, self-generated solutions supports both teachers and leaders alike. “She listens with undivided attention; listening with her ears, eyes and mind. Her reflective questions challenge me to think about my work to support teachers as we reflect together about learning,” says Dr. Rebecca Donaldson, Weller Elementary principal.
As an experienced coach, Myki brings a wealth of strategic thinking and ideas to the table. Kelsey Brabo, Coordinator of Choice and Student Experiences, shares that “her experience, knowledge, and creativity is an amazing support to myself and our teachers, which directly impacts our students.” Angie Carder, principal at Gray Elementary, emphasizes this point as well: “Myki provides meaningful feedback to those that seek it, assists in planning for student and school success, and serves as a mentor and model in best instructional practices.”
Myki’s approach to her work shines through in this quote from Josh Holt, principal of Harrison Elementary: “What is most amazing is that I always feel valued and appreciated during and after dialogue with Myki. Students are at the heart of all we do, but Myki exemplifies that adult learners are at the forefront of all student learning.”
Myki supports the following sites: Wanda Gray Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Bissett Elementary, Weller Elementary, and Springfield Public Schools Choice Programs.
