Meet Torstein Thorsen Ekern, a sustainability energy consultant. If you were to be a sustainability energy consultant you would need to have an educational background in environmental science and/or in economic studies because you can then specialize in sustainable energy. In Torstein’s case you would be planning and plotting to find the most efficient places to put wind turbines, and to also watch out for wildlife. For instance, if there was a bird’s nest you might want to move the wind turbine to some different coordinates. Torstein works for a company called Pollen Vind AS, and he has has been involved in overseeing the construction of multiple wind farms in Norway. In Seattle, he does his work at Impact Hub which is a co-working space that focuses on sustainability. Torstein is also part of a group that plans to open an Impact Hub in Norway.
Torstein said he wanted to be a sustainability energy consultant because he hopes to make the world more climate friendly. When he first became a sustainability energy consultant Torstein was thirty-one years old. Torstein studied for five years to get a PhD. Torstein says this is his dream job because it’s fun and he has a meaningful job trying to help the planet.
Torstein is married and has three children and is temporarily living in Seattle but his true home is on an island in southern Norway. Torstein likes playing sports with his family and watching sports. He also likes fishing, soccer, running track, swimming, and spending time with his family.
As you can see being a sustainability energy consultant would be a pretty cool job to do. Torstein does what he loves, and gives back to the community by making sustainable energy.
