The Number One Power Tool for Every Leader: Facing the Shadow.
As leaders, we participate in professional development that covers a wide range of topics: budgets, hiring, scheduling, family engagement, etc. While those topics are important to the role of the campus leader, perhaps none are as important as the leader’s capacity for self-awareness and self-regulation. To quote Ralph Waldo Emerson: “The wise person in the storm prays to God not for safety from danger, but for deliverance from fear. It’s the storm within that endangers him, not the storm without.” We’ll explore common blind spots that leaders carry into their positions. We’ll also explore how to bring light into those dark spots.
