Clothing, Textiles and Fashion 10 introduces students to basic sewing techniques, fundamental design principles, using patterns and maintaining clothing. This course offers students the opportunity to explore how textiles are created and modified, as well as sustainability, career opportunities and various clothing, textile and fashion industries.
Clothing, Textiles and Fashion 20 allows students to improve their sewing skills, demonstrate safe use of a serger, create a basic quilt and fashion illustrations. Students will explore the evolution of fashion trends and will complete a research project on clothing, textile and fashion industries from the point of view of a consumer and possible career opportunities. Students will also explore elements of planning a wardrobe and explore how accessories can enhance a wardrobe.
Clothing, Textiles and Fashion 30 allows students to create a sewing project using advanced techniques, create a sewing pattern based on fashion design, create costumes for a theatre production, explore ethical and sustainable factors to consider when making clothing and textile decisions and investigate marketing practices in the fashion industry.
The purpose of Communication Media 10, 20, 30 is to provide experiences for students to inquire while developing understanding, skills, and abilities in audio, video, and interactive media production to communicate effectively.

Explore and experience fundamental concepts through the acquisition and improvement of technical skills including appropriate software, and equipment use, terminology, and teamwork.

Design Studies 10, 20, 30 provides experiences for developing proficiency in problem solving, goal setting and critical thinking, and provides opportunities for development of co-operative work skills and technical skills using design processes.

Using a variety of technological tools and platforms, students will deepen their understanding of information processing, and will apply their knowledge and skills to communicate, solve problems and create products in a digital world. This course provides opportunities for practical project-based learning that can be used in personal and professional applications.
Information Processing 30: focuses on eight areas, in a creative context: project management, digital citizenship and law, word processing, computer technology, spreadsheets, databases, photography and video production, and design, drawing and painting. Using a variety of technological tools and platforms, students will deepen their understanding of advanced information processing concepts, and will apply their knowledge and skills to communicate, solve problems and create products in a digital world. This course provides opportunities for creative, independent project-based learning.
Interior Design and Decorating 30 introduces students to the design and decorating related fields. The curriculum provides an opportunity for students to focus on interior design, interior decorating, or a combination of both. Students will explore the creative, client-focused nature of these fields while learning how to apply elements and principles of design to solve client problems in residential and commercial settings.
The purpose of Photography 10, 20, 30 is to provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and develop skills used in photography and to become familiar with career opportunities within the industry.
The Areas of Focus for Photography are to:
develop technical skills in the use of cameras including the photographic triangle
analyze and utilize the principles of composition and design
develop image manipulation skills to create aesthetically satisfying pictures
explore various occupations available in the ever-broadening field of photography.
Robotics and Automation 10, 20, 30 focuses on the design, construction, operation and use of autonomous and/or radio-controlled robotic devices, as well as the computer systems necessary for their control, sensory feedback and information processing. Through project based learning, design thinking, and inquiry learning, students will explore the processes and skills needed to design and fabricate physical devices that they will control or automate. Students are able to explore wearable technologies, automation, mobile robotics and animatronics as well as traditional robotic devices. In addition, students will also develop the computational thinking and coding skills necessary to control their robotic or automated devices.
Theatre Arts 20 is an introductory course in which students become familiar with the range of production team roles, design principles and technical applications in theatre departments such as lighting, sound, set, scenery, properties, costume, hair and makeup. Students also have opportunities to develop their organizational and collaborative abilities while ensuring the work is carried out safely.
Theatre Arts 30 builds on the foundational knowledge and skills introduced in Theatre Arts 20. The course engages students in more complex technical aspects of design and collaborative functions of production teams. Students may become crew members or department heads for school or community productions. Optional modules provide students with the opportunity to focus on a particular area of personal interest. For example, students with a keen interest in costume design and construction may focus on the costume modules, while others may focus on optional modules in areas that are of most interest to them.
Both Theatre Arts 20 and 30 courses provide students with the opportunity to complete production project modules involving student-created school productions or volunteer-led community productions. Work study modules provide the opportunity to work within a professional theatre setting. Optional Theatre Arts 20, 30 6 modules and extended study modules provide a means to configure each course to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
