Along with the required ELA courses, there are numerous elective courses for our students to explore.
Students explore insights into human nature, value and belief systems, the social condition, the natural and constructed worlds, technology, and the history of humanity while learning the skills of effective communication of your thoughts and ideas through written and oral mediums.

ELA 10B explores identity, the diversity of being, social responsibility and social action, justice and fairness, while teaching the skills of effective communication of your thoughts and ideas through written and oral mediums.

ELA 20 introduces the journey through life and what we learn about ourselves, others, the world around us and how turning points and transitions that occur in our life's journey may affect the path we are on.
Students explore the influences that create Canadian culture and identity through Canada's diverse landscapes and peoples.

Students explore thoughts, beliefs and assumptions as they examine the search for self and how they relate to others.

In Creative Writing 20, students will explore the craft and art of creative writing as they investigate internal and external sources of inspiration and information. Students will refine their creative writing skills as they compose poems, short fiction texts, creative nonfiction texts and short scripts for a variety of purposes and audiences.
In Journalism Studies 20, students will explore the role of journalism in society including journalistic ethics, rights and responsibilities. Students will develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to analyze and create print, broadcast and photojournalism texts.
In Media Studies 20, students will explore both the historical and evolving role of mass media in society. Areas of focus include media literacy, social media, marketing and advertising. Students will create media and develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to critically analyze how, why and by whom media texts are produced.
