Agribusiness 30 gives students an opportunity to explore the importance of agribusiness in supporting and growing the agriculture industry, and to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with agribusiness in this province
Agricultural Equipment Technician 20, 30 introduces students to the small and large equipment used in agriculture related fields with a focus on safety. Students construct knowledge and acquire skills used in maintaining and servicing agricultural equipment.
Agriculture Production A10, B10 introduces the background information, processes and setup of a farmyard in agricultural production. The focus of this course is to gain knowledge of agriculture in a variety of sectors and build skills and abilities in crop and/or livestock production.
Agriculture Production A20, B20 provides a deeper look into the processes of running a crop and/or livestock operation. The focus of this course is on the details of the operation of a farm for a chosen sector of crop and/or livestock.
Agriculture Production A30, B30 provides an advanced focus on practical experience in the management of a crop and/or livestock operation including financial and marketing applications. The course will explore the various crop and livestock opportunities found in agriculture and their relationships to each other.
Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems 20 introduces students to the topic of sustainability as it relates to food systems locally, provincially, nationally and globally. Food literacy, the origins of food we consume, and the role of the agricultural industries in Saskatchewan provide the context for investigation of factors influencing the quest for food sovereignty.
Agriculture and Sustainable Food Systems 30 provides opportunities for students to explore topics related to Indigenous food sovereignty, the role of media and marketing and their influence on food choices, and efforts to reduce food loss and food waste. The role of technologies in the production and processing of raw materials that contribute to food systems and exploration of career opportunities within various stages of food systems are also addressed in this course.
Food Studies 10, 20, 30 focuses on essential knowledge and understanding of food and nutrition. The importance of making healthy choices in order to promote the well-being of individuals and families is stressed. Through project-based inquiry learning, students explore processes and skills needed to create a variety of food items. Students acquire an appreciation of food trends influenced by historical events and various cultures and have the opportunity to explore careers in the food industry.
