School counselors will meet individually with each student to review graduation requirements, explore elective options, and ensure their course selections align with personal interests and future goals. These course planning conferences will take place between January and late March.
Course level recommendations are made based on the professional judgment of our faculty. Students are encouraged to discuss placement recommendations and course options with their current teachers before meeting with their school counselor.
Placements for English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies are determined through a placement rubric.
Students are encouraged to create a course plan that is academically challenging, personally meaningful, and aligned with their goals for higher education and beyond. While graduation requirements provide a strong foundation, students should aim to go above and beyond by enrolling in the most rigorous courses they can manage without becoming overwhelmed. To stay on track, students should regularly monitor their progress toward graduation and map out a four-year plan that supports both college and career readiness.
