Grundy Center Elementary is a Leader in Me school. We honor the 8 Habits of Highly Effective People and focus on leadership, culture, and academics!
On this page, we will highlight the roles students play in our therapy dog program.
There are 5 Core Paradigms that help us CHANGE the way we SEE things at school. Those changes affect what we DO and the results we GET.
Students are leaders at our school. There is a student action team in place that will help educate other students, staff, and the School Board on the effective use of therapy dogs. Leadership is not for the very few.
We believe that everyone has genius, not just a few people are gifted. Students who are gifted in working with animals make a great fit in the therapy dog team!
We believe in empowering students to make a difference. Students on the therapy dog team understand that they can make a difference to the greater whole.
Students on the therapy dog team will document their learning in their leadership notebooks. They are encouraged to work as a team and decide what and how they will learn about throughout the program.
The therapy dog program also involves an oversight committee containing both adults and students. This committee helps evaluate the program.
