When a U10 goalkeeper has the ball in their hands...OR...During a goal kick:
Opponents must retreat behind the build-out line
They cannot cross the buildout line until after the ball is kicked (goal kick) or the keeper releases the ball (keeper possession)
Attacking players can be behind the build-out line during these situations.
This is meant to help young players learn to play the ball out from the back with less pressure.
The offsides rule is slightly different for U10.
A player is considered in an offside position if all three of the following are true when the pass is made:
The player is between the opponents build-out line and the goal line
The player is closer to the opponent’s goal line than the ball
The player is closer to the opponent’s goal line than the last defender other than the goalkeeper
