Academic Year CELSAs
CELSA Applications: Ongoing
The Community-Engaged Learning Student Associates (CELSAs) work 4-10 hours a week (4 for On-Campus positions & 10 for Off-Campus positions). CELSAs are paid $8-$9/hour.
Expectations:
· Be dependable…that means punctuality and regular attendance are important!
· Work with your site supervisor or faculty member to learn about the placement's mission and goals.
· Develop learning goals in consultation with site supervisors and faculty members.
· Follow the rules and regulations of the CELSA site or faculty member.
· Maintain regular communication with your site supervisor or faculty member.
In addition to the CELSAs work at their community (10 hours) or faculty placement (4 hours), they participate in ongoing training and reflection sessions with the OCEL.
Commitment to full participation in the program activities is expected. These activities include:
· Attending a required orientation at the beginning of the Fall semester;
· Following Southwestern student payroll policies;
· Attending and participating in monthly CEL Student Associate meetings; and
· Presenting at the Experiential Learning Symposium of the Research & Creative Works Symposium.
Positions:
Off-Campus CELSAs are placed at Georgetown community organizations. The CELSAs serve as a bridge between the organization and the campus, with the core purpose of developing community-engaged learning partnerships. CELSAs work up to 10 hours per week not to exceed 140 hours per semester
In addition to responsibilities at the community organizations, CELSAs are responsible for the following activities:
· Identifying appropriate community partnerships for courses;
· Nurturing community learning partnership(s);
· Regularly communicating with OCEL and community organizations; and
· Coordinating evaluation and assessment of community organizations, students, and faculty.
SEARCH OFF-CAMPUS POSITIONS HERE
On-Campus CELSAs assist faculty with community-engaged learning courses and work up to 4 hours a week not to exceed 56 hours a semester. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Locating appropriate community partnerships;
· Nurturing community learning partnership(s);
· Regularly communicating with faculty and community organizations; and
· Coordinating evaluation and assessment of community organizations, students, and faculty.

Next Steps:
The organization will contact students for an interview based on qualification/experience. Hiring time frame will vary for different organizations. The organization will contact the applicant and the Director of Community-Engaged Learning of the selected candidates for the positions.
Once a position has been offered and accepted, the student is required to complete the mandatory Business Office paperwork as well as a learning contract.
