If you have to bathe your kitten, be aware that water temperature is really important! A cat’s normal body temperature is between 100-102.6º F, so the water needs to be pretty warm, like your bath water. Try not to do full immersion baths unless you have to. If you can get away with just a bottom or a face, or a leg, do that. Imitating as best you can the firm licking motion of a mom cat’s tongue will help the kitten feel more comfortable about the whole thing. And, remember a little shampoo goes a long way! A general rule of thumb is once you have rinsed them off really well, rinse once more. Make sure they have a place to dry off that is toasty warm and not drafty, and keep them there until they are completely dry.
