Major Landers

MAJOR LANDERS SCHOLARSHIP

Here are the requirements (in addition to the procedure) for HS senior students to apply for the Major Landers scholarship. Interested students have to meet the following requirements in order to eligible for this process:

1)    Currently enrolled as a senior at their school

2)     Declaring music education as their major;

3)     Planning to attend an Iowa college/university.

Go to www.bandmasters.org, Scroll over the "Resources" tab and click on "Forms and Documents", Scroll down to where it says "Major Landers Scholarship Award" and there should be a link to the form that you can click on.


Please note that you need to plan ahead since the process requires transcripts (from your school's Guidance Office) and reference letters from administrators and band directors


Scholarship auditions/interviews are during our SEIBA Honor Band on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Iowa City West High School. Students will be asked to complete the following for their auditions: 


1) Music Theory Test (info regarding the test is listed on the Major Landers registration form)


2) Perform a solo, 3) Sight-read a piece accurately and musically and 4) conduct an interview. These three requirements will be done in front of a panel of judges


The following prize amounts will be awarded after completion of all auditions/interviews: 


1st Place - $750 (and represent SEIBA at the IBA Major Landers competition)

2nd Place - $500

3rd Place - $400

4th, 5th, 6th places - $200
