Advantages of Game Based Learning:
One advantage of technology-based games is that it keeps the students engaged in the learning process. Students are able to “play” and learn at the same time.
Games-based learning is one-way teachers can help improve students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Games allow students to receive instant feedback about how they performed on a question or task within the game.
Disadvantages of Game Based Learning:
A disadvantage of games is that students are less motivated or engaged in other areas of learning. Students are not willing to pay attention during standardized instruction because they want to complete the activities on the games.
A disadvantage of games can be the cost required to effectively maintain the technology that is needed to participate in the games.
Games are not always aligned with the curriculum needing to be taught.

Description: Kahoot is an online quiz maker platform that uses visually appealing gaming aspects to increase student learning, engagement, and content comprehension.
How it can be used: Kahoot can be used by teachers and students in a whole class, small group or individually to introduce, learn, and review material.
2.Freckle
Description: Freckle is an online website and app that allows teachers to offer students unique instruction tailored to their needs in real-time in a game format.
How it can be used: Teachers can use Freckle to assign students individualized skills to practice in the Freckle app, and as students progress, the app automatically adapts instruction to the student's needs.
3.Quizlet
Description: Quizlet is an online quiz maker platform that allows teachers and students to make digital flashcards that they can use to introduce, learn, and study material in a variety of different ways that best meets their needs.
How it can be used: Quizlet can be used by students to learn content digitally and at their own pace.
4. Blooket
Description: A learning platform that allows teachers to increase student engagement in the classroom by hosting question sets for students to participate in.
How it can be used: Blooket can be used by students to review material previously learned. Blooket can be used by teachers to monitor students individual progress related to mastery.
5. Zearn
Description: Zearn is an educational website and app that allows teachers to offer students math practice at their learning level.
How it can be used: Teachers can assign students work on Zearn to help students learn and practice math concepts.

1.I-Ready
Description: I-Ready Learning is a collection of high-quality K-8 reading and math instructional resources that help student’s learn and stay engaged in lessons on their individual grade level.
How it can be used: I-Ready Learning has multiple areas of assessment and lesson. Once the students take a standardized diagnostic test in both reading and math an individualized lesson plan is made for them. They can access this by the my path option or by completing lessons directly assigned by the teacher. This can be used as morning activities, a station rotation or homework assignments.
2.Brain Pop
Description: BrainPop is a website/app that allows students to watch short videos, take quizzes and learn material in the subject areas of science, social studies, english, math, art, music, engineering and technology.
How it can be used: After completing a lesson a BrainPop video and quiz could be used as a review before the exam. This gives the students another form of instruction on the topic as well as gets their attention with the different form of presentation.
3.GimKit
Description: GimKit is similar to the online quiz maker game Kahoot!. Students join and answer questions to earn money for their correct answers. They are able to purchase powerups to make a more exciting playing experience.
How it can be used: This is another website and activity that can be used as a review process before exams.
4.Quizizz
Description: Quizizz is an app that allows teachers to find or create their own quiz and virtually assign it to their students. These quizzes can be assigned as self-paced homework, live games or simply a source of data collection.
How it can be used: Assigning a quiz as homework can count as a homework grade, as well as a form of data collection to see what the student is able to accomplish outside of the classroom.
5.Socrative
Description: Socrative is a classroom app that allows teachers to assign quizzes, exit tickets or just quick questions to get immediate feedback and data from the students.
How it can be used: Create an exit ticket for the end of every lesson and have students complete before they are able to leave the classroom. This holds the students accountable for their own learning as well as it being on their personal devices so that they are not able to collaborate with a partner.

Description: Factile is an online quiz game that resembles the game Jeopardy that reviews material in a fun and engaging way for students and can include any subject.
How it can be used: Factile can be created from a premade game template and allows you to create a quiz in the form of jeopardy-style, multiple choice, or a memory game. It can be played in the classroom or played remotely and students can even buzz in to make the game more fun.
2. Baamboozle
Description: Baamboozle is an easy and simple online learning platform that offers a wide variety of educational games that can be customized and played by students in groups or teams. Students do not need their own device in order to play.
How it can be used: Choose to create your own game or from a pe-made game. Divide the class into 2-4 teams and then select a game to play. The game is displayed on a screen for everyone to see and the students choose the number to the question they want to answer. After the answer is stated aloud, the ‘check’ button is clicked to show the correct answer.

3.Flashcard Factory
Description: Flashcard Factory is an online learning platform that allows students to work with one another to create flashcards to enhance their vocabulary skills, review and learn terms by practicing with example sentences and illustrations.
How it can be used: The teacher logs onto Flashcard Factory in Pear Deck and inputs 5-10 words per session for easy focusing. You can input the definition or allow the game to provide a pre-generated definition. Students write their own sentences and draw pictures using online tools. Then the newly created cards are produced by the ‘factory’ and students can see their newly created card with the vocabulary term and drawing to be learned.

4. 99math
Description: 99math is an online game that helps students in 1st-8th grade to practice and improve their math skills in a fun and interactive way.
How it can be used: Choose a specific math area (addition, subtraction,etc) and grade level. Students join by using their device and entering a code. Math questions are asked, each student answers on their device, and they compete against each other for a total of three rounds. At the end of the game, the teacher can assess students’ math skills.

Description: Seterra is an online or printable game to be played helps students to learn geography locations on a world map in an interactive and entertaining way. Seterra includes cities and countries, as well as rivers, lakes, and flags and can be played in learn or play mode.
How it can be used: Select the location of the map that you want the students to be quizzed on and create a challenge.
