An instructional strategy that uses repeated drills and practice in order for students to obtain automatic recall, mastery, or speed.
It can help students build automatic recall of essential skills like phonics and times tables.
It allows students to build on skills they have already learned. (i.e. going from single digit to double digit addition)
It is often viewed negatively by the public (i.e. outdated, boring).
Students become disinterested when done too often.
Duolingo
A language learning app that offers very brief drills and practice in the language of your choice. Allowing students 5 minutes of individualized practice on this app each day would boost language learning in your classroom.
Typing Club
A website where users can learn touch typing for free via videos and repetitive practice of typing each key with the proper finger positions. If you make an error, it will ding and you can’t move on until you’ve entered the correct key. It is split into very manageable chunks of practice.
Flashcards on Quizlet
If students need to memorize some facts or terms and you don’t want to write out flash cards the old-school way, students can use Quizlet to create their own flashcards, including images. Banks of flashcards made by others are also accessible for study and quizzes, and students can also share their online flashcards with each other.
Spelling Training
Students can use preset spelling lists by grade or theme or you can enter your own spelling list. Students can then use a feature such as Practice Your Words, which will walk students through typing each word on the list 3 times using less scaffolding each time. You can also take a spelling test and retake the test with just the words you missed until you get them all correct.
Visual Phonics Chant
Students would follow along with this video and practice these phonics sounds and movements each day to increase their phonics recall.

Kahoot allows students to play against their classmates, or simply practice on their own. Teachers can create specific sets of questions, or use or edit from Kahoot's extensive library for free.

Blooket
A website that allows students to review material through different quiz based games. Teachers can create their own set of questions and answers or find ones created by other teachers. Students enjoy Blooket a lot because they can play live with their classmates in class and get competitive or ply at home to review. Students also get to pick their character and unlock new characters overtime.
JeopardyLab
This is my personal favorite to make quizzes fun! This website allows you to make jeopardy templates or find ones from any subject. You can divide your class into teams and they need to find a team leader and name.
Quia Web
This is another great website with templates to create different online activities as flashcards, quizzes, battleship, challenge board, etc. You can also access quizzes and activities created for any subject and use them for your students.
Math Games
This website uses math games, worsksheets, puzzles and other interactive activities to practice different math topics. I am not familiar with math resources since I teach Spanish, but this website looks fun for students! Some of the games are Cat Wars, Launch the Llama and Mathimals.
5. World Geography Games
This interactive website has geography games, worksheets to print and videos. I think this resource is awesome because a lot of students are not familiar with maps and countries and they can quiz themselves on the content.
