Parvomay community center
The community center in the town of Parvomay, called "Saedinenie", was founded in the 19th century and is one of the first community centers in Bulgaria. Since then, it strives to maintain and develop the cultural traditions of the city, organizes various educational and cultural events, as well as provides a place for creativity and learning.
Folk ensemble "Parvomay"
On January 12, 1984, by decision of the management of the community center, the People's Choir was founded with conductor Kichka Petkova. Typical of her style, with a lot of ambition and energy, the then 31-year-old Kichka selected 17 women with outstanding singing abilities and the group quickly grew into a People's Women's Choir. The repertoire reaches 31 songs, mostly from the Thracian folklore region, but also Rhodope, Strandzha, Northern, Macedonian. The choir gained popularity and achieved success in concerts not only in Parvomay, but also in Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Karnobat, and abroad.
Dimitar Delchev Community Theater
On January 28, 1895, the first theater performance was held in Parvomay town - The first play performed by the newly formed theater troupe was "Ivanku - the killer of Asenya I" by Vasil Drumev. The performers were all the teachers in the town. A little later a permanent troupe was created, leaded by Dyako Geshev.
There are also many other community centers and theaters in the municipality, such as the one in Tatarevo, which was recently restored, in Debar, Ljubenovo, Iskra and etc.
Museums
Preserved ancient relics are displayed in a museum in the town- the Primary School St. Cyril and Methodius and also the House of Culture in the village of Iskra.
Parvomay town(Debar) contains G. Karaslavov museum house. Georgi Karaslavov was born in 1904 in the Debar district of the town and is considered to be one of the greatest Bulgarian authors.
Several of his novels, including Snaha, Tatul, and Selkor, were made into films.
The citizens of Parvomay honour his name every year with different activities.
