Challenge

    • Merge the "Scratch" programming language and the "MakeyMakey" microprocessor to create an interactive model of a generic Eukaryotic Animal Cell that will be gifted to 6th grade biology students.

Requirements/Grading

    1. Stable, physical model (paper, foam/cardboard, wood, plastic, etc. No play-doh). Contained and protected MakeyMakey - 5 pts
    2. Depicts the below cellular components - 5 pts
      • Phospholipid Bilayer
      • Mitochondria
      • Golgi Apparatus
      • Endoplasmic Reticulum (Smooth and Rough in one "event")
      • Ribosomes
      • Nucleus
      • Lysosomes
      • Cytoplasm
      • Cytoskeleton
    3. Upon touch, each component will speak the below in a casual, warm, humorous and/or uplifting tone. Click here for Scratch tutorial - 10 pts

      • Proper scientific definition and function.
      • One interesting fact.
