This program is funded by the Somers Board of Education and runs for 2.5 hours per day, Monday-Thursday. There is an AM session and a PM session each day. Though our program hours run differently, our program does follow the Somers Elementary School calendar. Both classes (AM and PM) are comprised of identified students with special education needs, as well as peer role models. Peer role models are charged a monthly tuition and are required to provide transportation for their child.

I am a certified Preschool Special Education Teacher. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Sociology. I also have a Masters Degree in Arts Integration. I have had the pleasure of working at Somers Elementary School for the past 5 years, as the Kindergarten Special Education teacher. I am very excited to start my 6th year at SES as the PreK Early Start teacher!
I have a soon to be 7 year old daughter and a soon to be 7 month old son. When I am not at work, I spend all of my time with my children and husband. I enjoy going for walks/hikes with my family, love to zip-line, and enjoy going on family trips to find hidden gem coffee spots (I am a little bit of a coffee snob).
I believe that we will have a great school year and will build close relationships with you all. I am so honored to take on the role of what may be your child’s first school experience and look forward to getting to know you all :)
Have a wonderful rest of your summer and welcome to Early Start Preschool! Please feel free to reach out at anytime if you have questions.
Yours Truly,
Mrs. Flaherty
