Lane Advancement Information

NOTICE OF INTENT 

When the employee has accumulated enough approved credit hours to advance to the next horizontal lane on the Master Contract Schedule, a Notice of Intent Educational Lane Advancement form is completed (applicable deadline dates are noted on the form - JUNE 1ST prior to school year in which lane advancement will take place).    Example:  Lane advancement for the FY25 school year will be due by June 1, 2024 and notice of intent for FY26 will be due by June 1, 2025. Lane advancements only occur at the beginning of each school year and not throughout the year.  

The Notice of Intent is now a fillable form.  For those using ADOBE,  you will be able to submit the completed form by clicking the SUBMIT button on the form - then will be asked to link your gmail (school) account - once that is done - the form will show up in your DRAFT folder and you will simply need to submit from there.  Those not using Adobe, will need to complete the form, save and then attach in an email to pmoore@solon.k12.ia.us.

Once a Notice of Intent has been filed, a Google folder will be shared with the employee.  The Google folder will contain sub-folders for each of the required documents in the process (course approval forms, Degree + Hours form, original transcripts, etc).  Access will be restricted on the folder to the employee and the Business Office.

Once the process has been completed, depending on the timing, a new contract is presented for Board approval and released through DocuSign.

Course Approval

All courses to be used toward lane advancement must be approved by the Superintendent.  It is important to receive prior approval before starting a course as not all courses will be approved.  Courses not approved will not be recognized for lane advancement.    Course approval form is now fillable - please send completed form to Pat Moore.

Degree + Hours Form

Just as each course taken should have a corresponding course approval form (approved by the Superintendent), each of those approved courses should be added to the Degree + Hours Form in the employee's cumulative file (fillable PDF shared here with instructions on how to submit)
