How to build a college list
When building your college list it is important to make sure that your list is balanced. Having a balanced list means that you are applying to schools that you actually have a chance of getting into. Your balanced list should include target, likely and reach schools. See a definition of each below.
LIkely Target Reach
As you create your list of schools that you match with also keep in mind how you will fit into a school. After you’ve determined schools that would be a good academic match for you, then consider which schools will be a good fit.
You should consider factors including:
Finances: Cost of attendance, Aid availability
Social Aspects: Diversity, Activities
School Size
Location
Academic: Majors, Class Size, Resources
Your ultimate balanced list should include 3-5 schools.
