Interest Meeting
I selected to participate in the scale program for a variety of reasons. When COVID was launched in 2019, I believed that joining this virtual platform was a better option than attending in person for health and safety reasons.
I now have more time to be at home, travel and even work!
An advantage of being in the SCALE program includes the fact that teachers are always available and that I have a virtual tutor to help me through all of my classes. I'm also able to work at my own pace and get ahead on my assignments which means I won't be under as much pressure when the semester ends! My teachers are quite helpful in assisting me with explaining lessons and reviewing assignments, quizzes, and tests.
I believe the SCALE Program is a fantastic option for students who want flexibility and don't mind the rigorous work at times.
For us, SCALE ticked all the boxes we needed for Gabi to be successful and rigorously challenged as we transitioned from a smaller private school. Here is why our decision to #SCALEup was the right one:
Customized Curriculum- The SCALE Program allows for students to be able to take core curriculum classes while still being able to take classes that are geared towards a hobby, interest or career pathway. For example, our daughter is interested in the medical field therefore she has been taking classes that will help her prepare for a career in the medical field.
Accountability- The platform is designed for students to complete classwork based on an agreed-upon schedule between the coordinator, student, and parents. Everyone, including teachers, are able to review progress and make any adjustments when needed to help ensure students stay on track to completion. This teaches the importance of time management and accountability for the student.
Independence through setting high academic standards and yet helping students achieve educational excellence is definitely an important aspect of the program that helped us make a decision to choose the SCALE program. Knowing that our daughter would be given the opportunity to take classes that would push her out of her comfort zone and build a new confidence level was what we were looking for and expecting to experience with the program and furthermore, in her education.
Inclusive school community- Students are given a chance to participate, and have numerous opportunities to get involved, in the school district's CTAE, Athletics and Club activities was also a deciding factor.
