ANZAC Day

The Ode Of Remembrance.

They shall not grow old,

As we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn,

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

The ANZACS landed on Gallipoli in Turkey on the 25th April 1915. This day is now known as ANZAC Day.

ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps.

Poppies and rosemary are worn on the day as reminders of the loss of all soldiers in all wars.

The Gallipoli battle lasted 8 months, and 10,920 ANZACS died.

The Gallipoli battle protected Australia and New Zealand and to this day both countries are pretty much safe.

The ANZAC Battle started in France. The ANZACS protected France from the Germans. The main village was Villers-Bretonneux.

One of our guest was Jacob Green. Jacob grew up in Shepparton and in primary school went to St Mel's. In fact in grade 2 he was in Wendy Baldwin's class. For High school he went to Notre Dame College.

Jacob attended Australian Air Force Cadets at 419 SQN Shepparton during high school. This made it definite that he was going to join the military after he graduated from high school in 2011. He then moved to Albury in search for a new full time job while applying for the air force. He moved out from his home three times!

Jacob finally enlisted as an Airfield Defence Guard in May 2015. He was then posted to the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) base in Williamtown December 2015.

I, Daniel Clifford was Lucky enough to have a talk to him. Here is a photo.

Here are some photos of the day.
