Passwords

Student forgot SMSD password:

This means you are unable to log in to your computer at all. 

1. Ask your teacher to put in a ticket to reset it to a temporary password. 

2. Once you have your temporary password, restart your computer, click log in with Microsoft like usual, then type your email and the temporary password. A box should pop up prompting you to change it to a new password. 

3. Your new password needs to meet these requirements:

   • at least 8 characters

   • different from your last 4 passwords

   • a special character and a number (do NOT put a number at the end)

   • at least one capital letter and one lowercase letter

   • does not contain your first or last name or any easy to guess patterns

   • Example: #15Chiefs

4. On the next screen, click Forgot my old local password. It is not necessary to enter login information again. 

Student forgot Google password:

1. No, they didn't. If they can log in to to their computer, they can log in to Google.

Student forgot Skyward password:

1. Follow these directions to reset it yourself. 

2. These steps also work when setting up your initial Skyward account.
