An internationally recognized academic program focused on the process of learning, emphasizing critical thinking, and providing an opportunity for college credit.

The IB program is open to Juniors and Seniors. Students can choose to take one IB class or the full 2-year program ("Diploma Candidate"). Examinations are given at the end of classes, and students receiving a high enough score can earn college credit (similar to AP).

*Students can take up to 5 courses or be a Diploma Candidate

What does it mean to be a Diploma Candidate?
Course Requirements: one from each area above (an additional science or psychology can be taken in place of art)
Core Requirements
Theory of Knowledge (TOK) - “philosophy” class offered during seminar
Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS)
Extended Essay (EE) - essay on a topic of student’s choice
How do you get college credit through IB?
Students must take the IB exam – each exam is $119
Cost is comparable to AP ($105) and College Now (roughly $300 for three hours)
Scores are determined through a multi-session exam and project rather than a one-time test
Kansas Board of Regents: Beginning July 1, 2019, each state university shall award credit for all IB Diploma Programme exam scores at or above a score of 4 at the Standard Level or the Higher Level, for the equivalent course or courses at their institution.
