Dual Credit
College Now is a popular dual enrollment program with Johnson County Community College. Students in SMNW classrooms can earn college credit in a variety of subjects!

Spring Deadline: February 9, 2024 (Begins January 16)
APPLY anytime and only ONE time for admission to be a JCCC student. Go to admissions.jccc.edu. Guaranteed Application Processing DEADLINE: August 25 (Fall) and January 26 (Spring)

2. PREREQUISITES Test or place into your College Now courses, if applicable. Shawnee Mission Northwest’s JCCC page. Prerequisites are noted below courses. Examples of courses with prerequisites:
ENGL 121 (English 12)
PHYS 130 (Physics)
MATH 241 & 242 (Calculus)
Request Placement Waiver: If you meet the placement requirements with an ACT score, high school GPA, or AP test score, click the “Request Placement Waiver” button found at https://www.jccc.edu/admissions/enrollment/prerequisites.html
Transcripts: Need transcripts with your GPA or ACT score on it?
SENIORS can download their own unofficial transcripts from Skyward. Go to “Grade Cards & Academic Awards” tab, and transcripts should be found at the top. Upload transcripts to MyJCCC account or click HERE and scroll down to “Upload High School Transcript”
If transcripts are not found in Skyward, email tammyramsey@smsd.org and natashaodonnell@smsd.org.
Schedule the Accuplacer: Deadline to schedule is 48 hours before enrollment deadline. One re-take is allowed.
Go to jccc.edu/testing
“Schedule Placement Test.”
Sign in with your MyJCCC username and password.
Fill out the form.
Click “Add to Cart”
Click on the “Complete Registration”
An email confirming students’ test appointment date and time will be sent to your JCCC student email account. (username@stumail.jccc.edu)
If you do not receive a confirmation email, an appointment to take an Accuplacer test has not been created.

3. ENROLL with CRNs through your student portal.
Get CRNs: Shawnee Mission Northwest’s JCCC page to get CRNs
Enroll: Go to jccc.edu and click “Login”
Log in to MyJCCC
Click the green Add/Drop Classes button
Select the term “Credit Fall” for fall semester or year long courses or “Credit Spring” for spring semester courses.
Attention! Click the second TAB “Enter CRNs” on the top left
Enter the five-digit CRN numbers for your courses
Click Add
Click Agree & Submit (at the bottom)
Confirm that your courses show a status of “Registered” to ensure your enrollment was successful. You are not fully registered until you pay!
PAY by DEADLINE Tuition is due at the time of enrollment. $97/credit hour (~$291/class)
Pay online at MyJCCC
Select My Finances (on left menu)
There should be an option to set up a payment plan. Call Bursar’s Office for assistance at (913) 469-2567 or email bursar@jccc.edu.

GRANT$ are awarded on a first come, first served and need basis (free/reduced lunch and out-of-state). Check out the High School Financial Assistance page and learn more about financial assistance for high school students. Grants are awarded mid-October and again in the spring.
