Mrs. Greene teaches band at three elementary schools in the North area, and assists Mr. Simpson in the band room at Hocker Grove Middle School. She graduated from William Jewell College and earned her Masters at Emporia State University. She is a flute and piccolo player. "Playing an instrument helps people use their mind and body in a new way. It is a skill that will help you in other areas of your life, and will open doors to so many fun experiences. I encourage everyone to pick an instrument they love the sound of and to work toward playing beautiful music that you love."

Mr. Peterson teaches orchestra at 7 North elementary schools as well as Golden Strings (SMN honor group) for advanced 6th graders. Mr. Peterson grew up in Kansas City and went to the University of Kansas for his undergraduate degree. Graduate degrees have come from Emporia State and Idaho State University. He is fluent and has performed on all 4 string instruments. Mr. Peterson loves helping kids find a music community at school. Watching kids work with one another and growing to fall in love with their instrument is thrilling.

Mr. Tovar is an elementary band teacher in the Shawnee Mission North area, teaches Honor Band (SMN honor group), and serves as an Assistant Band Director at Shawnee Mission North High School. Mr. Tovar is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Music, where he studied saxophone, and is passionate about creating fun and encouraging environments where students can grow as both musicians and individuals. He especially enjoys being part of each student’s musical journey, from helping them discover the instrument that is right for them to watching their skills and confidence develop through their high school years.

Mrs. Ragan teaches orchestra at six elementary schools in the South area and one in the North area. She graduated from the University of Kansas. "My goal is for every student to feel successful on their instrument and to enjoy coming to class and making music with their friends.
Everyone learns at their own pace, so I will always try to meet your student where they are at and help them along the way."
