These are the instruments that students start on in 5th grade:

Band - Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion

Please spend some time looking at the drop down menu above to see pictures and descriptions of all the instruments.  Click on each instrument picture to watch a video about that instrument.  You could also explore the videos below or other videos of the instruments that you are considering.  Spend some time talking to your 5th grader to hear what they are considering and help them make a good choice that they will stick with.  Our goal is to help them pick an instrument that they will stick with, so they keep improving every year and they are not switching to a new instrument each year.      

We recommend that you purchase your instrument from a store on this district recommended list: Local Music Stores.  They have rent-to-own programs set up with maintenance provided.  You can also purchase instruments from them at a discount if you decide to purchase early.  Buying a used instrument can be a good choice, but it would be best to pick a reputable brand from these district lists: Band and Strings.
