It has been an incredible first semester here at Highlands! We ended December on a high note: All-School Mindful Moment (6th grade-led!), 6th Grade Maker's Fair, Q2 SOAR Assembly, Spirit Week, Staff Holiday Luncheon, and phenomenal student academic growth on reading and math benchmark testing!! We are also leading SMSD elementary schools in our chronic absenteeism rate: only 2.5%!

Check out our mid-year progress on our annual WIGs (Wildly Important Goals) :

🎯 WIG #1: 80% of students K-6 will be at or above benchmark in Reading (Acadience) by the end of the year. 

✅ Actual (first semester):  86% 🎉

🎯 WIG #2: 80% of students K-6 will be at or above benchmark in Math (iReady) by the end of the year. 

✅ Actual (first semester):  71%  

🎯 WIG #3: Chronic Absenteeism - Maintain the percentage of students chronically absent below 5%. 

✅ Actual (first semester):  2.5% 🎉

It's "halftime" and we are ready to hit the ground running in January after a long, refreshing break 😊.
