              Welcome to Third Grade!

Monday:

Math- paper- The front will be graded.

Spelling- no new spelling words this week

Vocabulary- no new vocabulary words this week

Reading- Read a Christmas book for the December book report.  Write an 8-10 sentence summary on the snowman paper.   This can include: title, author, setting, characters, and main events in the story.  Write in complete sentences and spell all words correctly.  Decorate/color the snowman. Also, fill a Christmas stocking with THREE items that have something to do with the story.  (For example, small stuffed animals, ornaments, etc.) The summaries will be hung up in January for everyone to enjoy. The summary and Christmas stocking with items are due Thursday, Dec.18.  (Please do not bring the stocking in early.)

*We have won our GRIT award.  We will have a special "Games Day" tomorrow as a reward.  Students may bring board games and cards.  Electronic devices are not allowed in school.

*Students may wear Christmas socks and jewelry during the month of December.  Our school is collecting children's toys for our December outreach.  Items can be placed in the bins when you enter the building in the morning.

*Bring 4-5 books to read to your first grade Book Buddy tomorrow.  Please bring Christmas books if you have any:)

*Wear Christmas clothes today.  The program is at 1:00 in the church.  Come to the front doors of our building for dismissal immediately after the program.

Friday:

Today is ugly sweater day. We will dismiss at 12:05.  Have a Merry Christmas!  I will see you back in school next year!

*We began a new adventure this year. Traveling Teresa (small doll) and a notebook about her adventures will go home with a new student each week. Names will be picked randomly on Fridays.  Students should write about what Teresa does over the weekend in the notebook.  Please include pictures if possible. There are examples in the book. The notebook and Teresa should be brought back to school by Tuesday.  A new student will take her home the following Friday.
