Co-op and Non-Co-op Spots Available
San Mateo Parents’ Nursery School is a diverse community dedicated to fostering the learning and growth of children and adults. We are a non-profit, co-operative school, owned and operated by its members. Our goal is to create a loving, supportive, empowering environment for children and their families. We've been nurturing children and parents since 1947. SMPNS does not discriminate on the basis of sex, creed, cultural background, religion, ethnic origin or physical ability. We invite you to visit our remarkable school!
A parent cooperative nursery school is a preschool that actively involves the parent on a weekly basis. This allows the morning session to have a 1:3 adult to child ratio and offers families a discount on co-op sessions rates. At SMPNS, parents participate during one morning a week. This means that during one of the sessions that your child is enrolled, you would also attend and participate in the classroom. We do make an effort to offer several non-cooperative spots.
Another feature of our program is that our school is able to offer part-time and full-time schedules based on your unique family needs. Children ages 2.0 to 2.5 may register for two mornings a week to grow comfortable with the program. Children ages 2.5 and older may register for any schedule, pending availability. We offer two-to-five day sessions, including a.m. only, p.m. only, and full-day options! Explore our scheduling options here.
Please contact the school directly or visit our FAQ page for more information about our program.
Any member of a family, including nannies & grandparents may co-op at SMPNS.
