Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) is a transportation, distribution, and logistics program designed to provide comprehensive training in drone technology and operations, preparing students for specialized commercial drone applications in industry. This program allows students to become Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) part 107 certified by examining regulatory compliance, pilot qualifications, waivers, etc. Additionally, students have the opportunity to join UAS-related student organizations. UAS focuses on foundational knowledge and skills, including communication, leadership, and team building as students engage in both simulated and real-world flight dynamics of various drones that they maintain and troubleshoot. Students will be exposed to career options such as: commercial drone photographer/videographer, drone inspection technician, agricultural drone operator, real estate drone operator, GIS analyst, construction drone operator, public safety drone operator, aerial survey technician, data scientist, drone hardware/software designer, geospatial data analyst, or UAS research and development engineer.
