Manna is a standalone nonprofit, serving over 1,500 meals per week between St. John’s kitchen and Edwards Church. The number of meals served doesn’t tell the whole story. Our efforts to provide high-quality food to our hungry neighbors has created a remarkable community. The guests who are welcomed at Manna meals come from varied backgrounds, but really they are simply our neighbors, any one who suffers from food insecurity in any way we are here to help. Our volunteers are an essential part of this community as well. Local college and high-school students, retirees, and others show up weekly to chop, serve, and offer friendship and a smile to all who attend.
Since 1982, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts has been feeding our neighbors in need and leading the community to end hunger. We provide food to our members in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties. These independent food pantries, meal sites and shelters are on the front lines of food assistance in our region, providing sustenance to individuals, families, seniors, children and people with disabilities (including veterans) to lead healthy and meaningful lives.
Community Action Pioneer Valley assists people who have low incomes to achieve economic stability and security, and works to build communities in which all people have the opportunity to thrive. Every three years, we do in-depth surveys to get real stories and information from people we live and work with. Their answers shape the work we do. The Community Needs Assessment is available for anyone to read. Community Action Pioneer Valley expresses gratitude for the lands and waters where we make our livelihood and home, and acknowledges that both rest on the unceded homelands of Nipmuck, Nonotuck and Pocumtuc Nations.
We primarily serve individuals and families in Hampshire County. A partnership with Hilltown Community Health Centers allows us to serve survivors in the rural areas of Hampshire and Hampden Counties. Safe Passage serves survivors of all genders. Services are accessible to people with disabilities and are available in English, Spanish, and other languages.
Safe Passage provides survivors with the support and information to keep themselves and their children safe and to rebuild their lives in the wake of domestic violence. We believe that empowerment is crucial to ending domestic violence. Through the empowerment of individuals, we can change society.
