Deciding to spend a year in Paris is an important decision. Like all big decisions, it should be preceded by some careful reflection and some due diligence.
Our first piece of advice is to start thinking about it early in your Smith career. Because of the language requirements, you may want to sign up for the appropriate French language course in your first year. It is also not too early to pay a visit to the Global Studies Center to get some general information about the program and the application process.
You should also start to think about how the courses you will be taking in Paris fit in with your intellectual interests and the requirements of your chosen major. Get in touch with the study abroad advisor in your department to begin mapping out the courses you will take prior to departure, during your year in Paris, and upon your return. This is not a particularly onerous undertaking, but it is also not one that should be undertaken at the last minute. As your plans take shape, you should feel free to consult with current or prior directors of the Paris program for more detailed information.
The intent behind this website is to provide you with the information to get started and the tools you need to make your year in Paris a reality. Please feel free to contact us with any suggestions you might have about the content or navigation of this website.
Bon courage!
