Organization and Time Management

Organization

Here are some tips to help you stay organized and on top of your work throughout the year

  • Use your planner to help you prioritize based on the due date, or assignment length.

  • Check off the assignments in your planner that you have already completed.

  • Another strategy that some people use is to hi-light or color code your planner.

  • Throw away any old or unnecessary papers to stay more organized.

  • Keep your table of contents up to date in all your notebooks.

  • Keep all your loose papers in their designated subject folder.

Time management

Time management is very important starting in middle school and is something you will always need.

  • Your planner is a fantastic resource! Prioritize by planning ahead so your work is less stressful.

  • Your planner is for you: Make sure you use whatever system works best for you to be the most productive.

If you have a large project that is due in a week, it will naturally seem like a heavy load on day one, so I advise that you sit down for five minutes or so, and use your planner to visually map out your week. Doing this will make you understand that every day will have a manageable workload

Below are some examples of planners to help you get a feel for different ways of using your planner.
