Grades and Report cards

"Knowing you won't fail a class because of one bad test score makes life a lot less stressful." -NSM alumni

Something is better than nothing

  • As long as you turn SOMETHING in, you will get partial credit.

  • Even if you don't finish something for one reason or another, turning in something is always better than nothing

  • You will learn to realize that each assignment adds up, and getting a C on an assignment, is by far better than doing nothing and getting an F.

  • Pay attention to the weight of your assignments, and prioritize based on how much that assignment is worth.

For example, let's say you have 4 assignments due by the end of the week: two of your assignments are worth 5 points, 1 is worth 10 points, and 1 is worth 20 points. If you try hard on your 5 point assignments, then get lazy and slack off on you 20 point assignment, then that's not the best plan, right?

Report cards/end of the trimester

  • At the end of each trimester, you will receive a report card, which will have letter grades (A,B,C,D,F).

  • Your grades should NOT be a surprise to you: you should be checking school loop daily.

  • Your teachers will let you know when the end of the trimester is. WRITE IT DOWN in your planner.

  • Before the trimester ends, you will have a week to turn in any missing assignments.

  • After the trimester ends, there are no exceptions for missing work.

  • Each new trimester, your grades will start fresh, and school loop will reset completely.

"One big tip I have is that at the start of the trimester, focus on getting good grades, because it's sort of a clean slate, that can be tipped either way." -NSM alumni
