Student differences & ownership are honored in my classroom. We believe that demonstration of knowledge can be done in a variety of ways. Students are able to select the assignments that they desire in order to demonstrate that they have met our learning objectives. I can incorporate technology as a choice for those who love the challenge.

In my class, we take 21st century learning to the next level combining Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking & Communication with #BreakoutEDU. I have successfully done a breakout with my class and hope to do another soon. I would be happy to share my experience with other teachers as they realize "it's time for something different" in our classrooms.

In an instant I can make my classroom interactive using www.classflow.com . I hear from every student in the room and use their responses to promote discussion while gathering data with the Instant Polling feature. No need for clickers anymore. Students use their own devices. I can also upload my Flipcharts to Classflow for anytime anywhere access to my lessons. The activities are also a nice change to keep the class actively involved with the content. I can show anyone how to get started easily by joining with their Google account.

I have encouraged my kids to experience computer science for at least one hour with the hour of code. It was easy to get started and it was inspiring to watch the students struggle and experience failure on their way to success! I want to encourage students to be creators of technology and not simply consumers. I would be delighted to help a co-worker get started using the hour of code with their classes.

I create lesson plans the 21st century-way with planbook.com . I can manage double periods and A/B schedule days and even push things back when there is a snow day. It is easy to share plans with colleagues and students.

For me, the convenience is well-worth the $1 / month fee.

I utilize the iPads and help my students play beyond the screen with OSMO . My students are using the 21st century skills of creativity, critical-thinking, creating, and collaborating. I have found ways to incorporate this technology into various subject areas across the curriculum.

By using QR codes I can take any static space and make it an interactive & communicative learning opportunity. Everything from sign-ups to #BreakoutEDU's a QR code makes teaching and learning change with a click of a button. My students and I can put QR codes anywhere to lead the reader to further information on a topic. If you have a link, you can make it a QR code. Try the QR code generator below and see for yourself! Remember: the device that is reading the code must have a QR reader app installed. There are many out there to choose from. (iOS 11 update included a reader with its camera app!)
